Mens 4’s – Dashing Through The League

AndrewM Match reports, Men's 4th xi

Given it is the season of goodwill and traditions, thought I would break with some Men’s 4 traditions ourselves, have no offensive or rude words and wish all my readers glad tidings and a rather splendid Christmas all round – hooray and lashings of festive cheer to one and all.

So in higher team format (zzzzz), here is the match report followed a half season round up.

Match report :-

Epsom 3 : Reigate 1.

Hard fought game, with goals from Rengger (senior), Sydenham (senior) and Green (just Green).  The fortress of Blenheim held strong as did our defence, until Rengger left his man unattended on the left wing, and Reigate penetrated for their only goal of the day.  Man of the Match – a well deserved heroic game in goal from Smith (aka Matt) –who was truly fantastic today, but special mention also to Gould (aka Biffa) who was awesome at the back and had it not been for Smith stepping up to the plate and offering to go in goal (after our keeper was stolen by higher teams) would have won MoM himself.     TFC – we have seen excuses of sun in the eye, but this week it was blood in the eye, and which was so bad (not) and hideous that it prevented even Maj from attending the showers. Great game all round and another 3 points to secure the Epsom side a well deserved 6th place at the half-way mark in their return to Division 1.        p.s. Normal 4th 11 match report service will resume in the New Year

Half-Way Report :-

Hang on is that “jingle bells” I can hear in the distant  #singalongplease

Dashing through the league
Were up to 6th today
O’er the pitch we go
Laughing all the way
Balls in a bag ring (oo-er)
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to laugh and play
For Epsom 4’s tonight

Oh, jingle bells, kit bag smells
Hockey all the way
Oh, what fun it is to play
For the 4’s on a Saturday
Jingle bells, Kit bag still smells
Injuries all the way
Eleven games, and 5 wins in
With some really good open play

A day or two ago
I thought where’s Maj’s mail
And soon it did appear
To bring joy to all we hear
The words were very bright
A strong chance we truly did have
We thought we had a full team
And then we got a fright

Oh, jingle bells, kit bag smells
Hockey all the way
Oh, what fun it is to play
For the 4’s on a Saturday
Jingle bells, Kit bag still smells
Deep Heat all the way
We still can’t score short corners
And do so rely on open play

Jingle bells, jingle bells
Hockey all the way
Oh, what fun it is to play
For Epsom on a Saturday
Jingle bells, Kit bag smells
Only 4 losses along the way
Oh, what fun it is to write reports
And talk total bollocks every day
