Coming to write this match report almost a week after the Reading match, the scoreline still seems strange given the performance on the day. Epsom started off well, with accurate passes, good movement, and a flurry of chances to take the lead. However, none of these crystallised, with Epsom hitting the post, missing the goal by millimetres, or just missing that deflection on the far post. Despite Mark claiming that he had seen some of the best passages of play from us this season, we were unable to find the back of the net and went into half time 1-0 down, Reading have fired a shot into the bottom corner with minutes to go.
The second half was the same story: it just wasn’t Epsom’s day, with the side being unable to capitalise on any of the chances created. Meanwhile, Reading proved clinical in their finishes, getting 2 more goals in the second half leaving the final score 3-0. Despite the disappointing result, we never gave up, with chances being created into the very last minute. Man of the match went to Jude for a great performance that saw her frequently sprinting the length of the pitch to provide cover, or to receive a pass. The Ladies 1s play bottom of the league Guildford next weekend at home, in a must win match.
