A long journey took the Tier 3 Embers side to Kent v’s Bexley & Belvedere Hamlets, with 2 sections of M25 slip roads closed the captain gave the team alternative routes, everyone set off in panic
Once the team arrived (late) we got going with a quick warm up and we all got into the game quite quickly and settled with a passing rthyme through mainly Dave Foulger who was pulling the strings and bringing other players into the game especially Torben and Matt Peaty on the wings, the oppo would not lie down and also kept us on the back foot with many chances but clive stayed solid
A chance came in mid half where Matt Peaty linked up from the left to set up Russ Taylor for the opener and take first blood, we certainly had more chances but could not get the ball over the line, the more we could not it gave the opposition more confidence, this eventually led to them getting a very soft goal with our goalkeeper on his heels and miscommunication the oppo striker pouncing and claiming their equalising goal.
Second half we pushed for a goal with Carlos needing a bit more composure in front of goal and bringing team mates into play, chance after chance went begging with Tim Glasford missing from an acute angle just inside the post. Deep in the second half Bexley struck and got their goal which took the wind out of our sails, we pushed up looking for that elusive equaliser to get it to penalty strokes but nothing went our way.
Final Score: Bexley Belvedere Hamlets 2 -1 Epsom Embers
Well played to all, we gave it our best shot, we will be back in 2019
